AB/NWT Bishops release Pastoral Letter

"On the Impact of COVID-19 & the Call to Christian Renewal"

This letter – addressed to all the Catholic faithful – offers praise and thanks for the many examples of care and collaboration that have emerged during the pandemic; it also highlights some of the social challenges that have surfaced and that will need to be addressed going forward.

In particular, the bishops are inviting Catholics to review the impact of COVID-19 within their homes, schools, workplaces, and society in general, in light of the gospel and the social teaching of the Church. Which values, attitudes and behaviours will we want to hold on to going forward? Which may be in need of remedy or renewal?

MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

May 31, 2020 - Pentecost Sunday

Dear Parishioners,

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ this is the gospel today as we celebrated Pentecost Sunday considered to be the celebration of the birth of the Church.

It is my joy to announce to you as your pastor that we will be resuming on the celebration of Masses with the presence of congregation. I know that like the disciples mentioned in the gospel above, you have your fears in you about this pandemic that we are facing. The bishops of Alberta are aware of this sentiment that is why the dispensation to attend the weekend mass is still binding, especially to the most vulnerable members of our parish. However we are also aware that we have brethren longing to be in the Church to attend the Holy Eucharist and receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Being in the Church gives us peace and consolation that amidst this situation we are living Christ journey with us and has never left us.

We have made the necessary preparations before beginning the celebration of the masses. In order to protect the health of parishioners, clergy and volunteers, the bishops have set a detailed list of conditions that must be observed before public mass may be safely returned to:

1. Limiting the total number of persons to 50 or fewer to ensure physical distancing
2. Asking people to answer health and travel questions as required by AHS
3. Recording contact information of attendees for tracking if necessary
4. Sanitizing hands upon entry and exit
5. Requiring Masks for all attendees.
6. Observing physical distancing throughout the celebration
7. Extra cleaning of the church between Masses.
8. Communicants will need to wear a mask to approach Holy Communion as does the priest distributing it.
9. No singing during Mass is allowed.

To ensure that we are following the AHS protocol and so as to know if we need to add masses to accommodate parishioners coming to mass we will be asking you to pre-register before you come by calling to the office 780-939-4412 or to my mobile number 780-645-9749.

We will be starting this coming Monday June 8 at 8:30 AM and First Sunday celebration on June 13 at 5:00 PM and June 14 at 9:00 AM which is the celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ.

We want to appeal also for volunteers as cleaners and sanitizers, ushers, readers and welcoming and hospitality ministry.

Lastly our parish has no income or revenue the past few for months of being close that is why we are pleading according to your means and after caring for your family, please support our parish, which is your spiritual home. God Bless.

 In Christ,

Fr. Trini Cui Pinca

Letter from Bishop Paul Terrio - April 21, 2020

We invite you individually or as a family to say the rosary with the help of the internet. "Come Pray the Rosary" is a perpetual rosary that allows people to say the rosary together on the internet. You can join with others and say the rosary in progress, or start it individually by choosing the mystery you want to say. Through this website, you can follow along as the Rosary is recited, with the visual aid of video from the Holy Land. You can literally see the places where the mysteries take place! You also can keep track of how many other people, around the world, are joining you in prayer. By clicking on the number of people praying and then the map, you can actually see the location of those you are praying with on a map. Please check out this great website at http://www.comepraytherosary.org/.
